LTAP Compatibility
Draft-08 adapter design: operation mapping, security, custody, errors and interoperability acceptance.
Target adapter scope
LTAP draft-ietf-ltans-ltap-08 is an expired Internet-Draft. This adapter is a target design, not an accepted integration.
IETF Datatracker · draft-08 ↗Command and query mapping
| LTAP | Target REST interface | Contract |
|---|---|---|
| ARCHIVE | POST /v1/archives | Archive API |
| EXPORT | POST /v1/archives/{archiveId}/exports | Export / Transfer API |
| DELETE | POST /v1/archives/{archiveId}/dispositions | Archive API |
| VERIFY | POST /v1/archives/{archiveId}/verification | Verification API |
| STATUS | GET /v1/archives/{archiveId}/status | Archive API |
| LISTIDS | GET /v1/archives | Archive API |
This maps business intent, not byte-for-byte request/response interchangeability. DELETE remains subject to retention, holds and approval.
Interoperability profile to agree
| Element | Handling |
|---|---|
| Encoding and version | Agree wire structures, size limits and tests; this ZIP contains no operational LTAP wire schema. |
| Identity and authorization | Map clients to tenant, scopes and object rights; never trust a self-asserted tenant. |
| Asynchronous processing | Retain LTAP transaction to archiveId/jobId mappings; reconcile original results after timeout. |
| Errors | Separate decoding, authorization, policy, byte, TSA and execution failures; HTTP status is not automatically an LTAP error code. |
| Custody | Preserve embedded/reference/hash-only semantics; never promise byte retrieval from digests alone. |
Adapter PoC cases
- ARCHIVE duplicates, changed data under one ID and timeout after acceptance.
- EXPORT with missing external data; DELETE under a hold or without approval.
- VERIFY missing material; STATUS/LISTIDS pagination and tenant rights.
